I built ML Stats because I couldn't find a retirement calculator that modeled the complete financial picture. Most retirement calculators focus on a single portfolio balance, but real retirement modeling involves multiple income sources, account types, and expenses. ML Stats helps users model those moving parts so they can make more confident decisions about withdrawals, allocations, and long-term financial goals.
Unlike many retirement calculators, ML Stats models individual accounts, income streams, withdrawal strategies, and future expenses to provide a more complete view of retirement readiness.
Drawing on more than 25 years of software engineering and leadership experience, I developed ML Stats with a focus on accuracy, reliability, security, and usability. My goal is to provide practical financial calculators that people can trust when making some of life's most important decisions.
Background
I have spent more than 25 years building and leading software engineering teams at companies including Oracle, Yahoo, and Microsoft. ML Stats combines that experience with my interest in financial modeling and data-driven decision making.
Philosophy
I believe financial calculators should be transparent, accurate, and easy to understand. Good decisions come from reliable data, realistic assumptions, and clear insights—not guesswork.
AI-Augmented Development
ML Stats is also an experiment in how quickly one person can build useful, production-ready tools with the right AI-assisted workflow. I used AI throughout the project as a collaborator for implementation, debugging, design iteration, deployment support, and testing. The goal was not to automate judgment, but to move faster while staying thoughtful about correctness, usability, and risk.
